Terrorists suspected to be Fulani herdsmen has yet again attacked another community in Benue state.

Ayar Mbalom community in Gwer East Local Government Area was under attack in the early hours of today as the terrorists attacked a Catholic Church, St. Ignatius Catholic Church, leaving two priests dead, several other church members injured and nearly fifty houses reported to have been burnt, sources revealed.

The names of the Catholic priests that were killed in the attack are Rev. Fathers Joseph Gor and Felix Tyolaha, as reported by 247ureports.

It will be recalled that four days ago, about 10 persons were murdered by herdsmen in Guma local government area and over 300 houses destroyed by military personnel in Naka, Gwer West local government area of the state.

Director of Communications Catholic Diocese of Makurdi, Fr. Moses Iorapuu, confirmed the attack in a press statement of which he said “Rev.Fathers Joseph Gor and Felix Tyolaha have been confirmed dead in the deadly attack by herdsmen/Jihadists early today on Mbalom village and St. Ignatius Quasi Parish Ukpor-Mbalom”.

“The police seem to know nothing of the attacks which have been going on in other villages within Benue State since the Anti Open Grazing Law came into effect last year.

“Many people are asking why the International community has remained silent over the massacre of Benue citizens”

The state police command is yet to confirm the incident.
