Member representing Afikpo North-East state constituency in the Ebonyi state house of assembly, Hon. Maria Ude Nwachi, was yesterday attacked by some suspected thugs while on a ward visit in Amasri, Afikpo North LGA of Ebonyi state.
Hon. Nwachi who is currently contesting under the platform of the Alliance for New Nigeria, ANN, to represent the people of Afikpo North/South in the Federal House of Representatives was said to be attacked alongside Hon. Iheukwumere Otu, aspirant for Afikpo North-East state constituency under the platform of ANN, among others.
Reports said that Hon. Maria was scheduled to have a a ward meeting at Amasri with indigenes of the community who were anxiously waiting for her.
Eye witness reports that the thugs who were already on ground before her arrival hurled at her on sighting her.
It took the intervention of residents of the area and members of her campaign team who guarded her back to her car and drove her off to safety.
As at the time of this report, no official statement have been released by Hon. Nwachi in regards to the attack.
Hon. Nwachi who have been under attack ever since she joined politics is said to be a very big obstacle to other aspirants of the same position.
