The security situation in Enugu State seems to be taking a dangerous turn as cases of murder keeps increasing by the day. The latest victim is Mrs Mary Amadi, the Head of Nursing Services (HNS) at Federal Psychiatric Hospital Enugu.
Mrs. Amadi was reportedly shot dead on Thursday last week at about 4pm in front of her house at Federal Housing estate near NOWAS, Enugu.
According to an eye witness, Mrs Amadi was probably trailed from her office and was murdered when she came down from her car to open the gates. Her assailants quickly made a U-turn and zoomed off.
She was said to have been quickly rushed to Parklane Hospital, where she gave up the ghost after the doctors battled unsuccessfully to save her life.
The deceased until her death had worked at Parklane Teaching Hospital, Enugu from where she moved to the State Ministry of Health where she worked until she got appointed Head of Nursing Services at the Federal Psychiatric Hospital, Enugu.
The mother of two is said to be studying for her doctorate degree before her death.
This ugly incident is coming less than one week after the Secretary to Uzo-Uwani LGA of Enugu State was murdered in cold blood.
Before his death, a Reverend Father was also killed and his decomposing remains discovered weeks after his untimely death.
