The senator representing Delta North in the red chamber, Senator Ovie OmoAgege of the all Progressives Congress, APC, has been elected as the deputy president of the Nigeria Senate.

The lawmaker who has been in the news for orchestrating the stealing of the mace from the red chamber last year defeated the the immediate past deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.

Senator OmoAgege pulled 68 votes to defeat the immediate past deputy Senate President, ike Ekweremadu who ganared 38 votes while one vote was declared invalid.

With this election, the south east is left out completely in the sharing of the top 6 positions in the country.
