ENUGU— A man who was in the business of sending threat messages to people on the internet in order to extort money from them has been apprehended by operatives of the Enugu State Police Command.

The suspect identified as one Nnaji Samuel Nwabueze was arrested on Friday, October 11 by men of the Central Police Station of the State Police Command.

According to a statement confirming his arrest and detention, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ebere Amaraizu said Nwabueze “regretted his alleged act of sending threat messages of kidnap and murder to his unsuspecting victims through the internet and blaming the entire situation to act of Satan.”

The police spokesperson added that “the operatives of the Central Police Station of the Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force had on 11/10/19 through intelligence information nabbed the suspect following a report received from the victim who is based in Enugu that he has been receiving threat text messages of kidnap and murder if he does not comply by giving out money as demanded.

“Following the report and intelligence information gathered, suspect was promptly nabbed for allegedly issuing threats via internet to his boss and also was identified as the personal gardener to the victim (his boss).

“Suspect, following this, has revealed how they usually perpetrate their nefarious activities.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdurrahman has directed for a full scale investigations in relation to his alleged nefarious activities.
