The Enugu State Police command of the Nigeria Police Force has advised the key players in the hospitality industry such as; hotels, night clubs and other relaxation points, to be security conscious and to ensure that necessary security steps required of them are put in place to avoid mischief makers cashing in on any loophole to wreak havoc on customers or to be seen as a fertile ground for perpetration of crime amongst others.
According to the command, the need for these operators to be security conscious and take proactive measures towards ensuring safety and security of those accessing these spots especially as we go into the Yuletide cannot be overemphasized.
The command further advised hotel owners, clubs and other relaxation point owners to; “Be proactive by installing security cameras while hotel owners are to ensure proper documentation of guests and ensure proper background check of persons before they are employed and try as much as possible to investigate any strange noise around their hotel premises.
“Hotel owners and operators shouldn’t encourage the selling of goods by their security at their gate as some buyers might be hoodlums looking for an opportunity. Some people might also come to the hotel with a criminal intention to wound or kill their victims inside room and as a result may not do the proper documentation as may be required of guests.
