“Going by how much i know His Excellency, the former governor of Abia state, i am fully convinced that his ordeal in the last 5 months offered him the opportunity for self examination, self-realisation, sober reflection and strengthened his resolve to serving humanity as he has always strived to do.”
Those were the words of the Member representing Ezeagu constituency in Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Barr. Chima Obieze in his congratulatory message to Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu on his Victory at the apex court on Friday, 8th May.
Sen. Orji had his 12-year conviction upturned by the Supreme Court on Friday.
Obieze in the message told Sen. Orji to see his victory as an act of God and it should reinvigorate him towards positivity and selfless service. He encouraged the Senator to “never take for granted the lessons and counsel of this period”.
Hon. Obieze who was a former aide to the Senate Chief Whip also expressed his satisfaction that the Supreme Court has once again stood on the side of “due process” in the dispensation of justice.
“The judgement is an indication that the Supreme Court of Nigeria is resolute on their stand on due process in the trial of any matter before the court.”
