The IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu POCACOV Resource Centre, Enugu has commenced the development of Modules aimed at discouraging recidivism amongst corrected and released inmates from correction centres.

The new plan was disclosed by the National Coordinator of Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV) CSP Ebere Amaraizu while fielding questions on the modalities put in place for Re-Orientation, Rehabilitation and Re-Integration Programmes.

Amaraizu said; “POCACOV is developing Modules that will help to ensure that corrected and released persons from various correction centres accross the country do not go into a situation of recidivism having been released and go back to the centres.

To mitigate this, POCACOV intend to make use of POCACOV VOLUNTEER CLUB of the safer school/community partnership to achieve this.”

Going further, Amaraizu stated that; “IGP M.A POCACOV Resource Centre, Enugu is developing a module which will bring about the partnership between POCACOV and ministry of interior affairs, correctional service and other relevant stakeholders to discourage stigmatization and recidivism of corrected and released persons.

“To this end, POCACOV will be ready to work in partnership with relevant stakeholders on the post release programme of corrected persons from the correction centres and for a better society.

“The involvements of the corrected and released persons from the correction centres with POCACOV Volunteer Club members will not only help in giving leadership direction to them but help to ensure that they don’t succumb to various environmental pressures that will bring about their getting involved in crime and criminality again,” Amaraizu said,
