The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) has revealed that modalities are being worked out through the IGP M.A Adamu POCACOV Resource Centre Enugu, on strong Partnership with Federal and states Ministries of Culture and that of literary Societies of Nigeria.

This was revealed by the National Coordinator POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu on 7th of August, 2020 while reacting on the essence of and the process of grassroots campaign mechanism of POCACOV) during a chat with a community group that was on a courtesy visit to the IGP M.A Adamu POCACOV Resource Centre, Enugu.

According to the Amaraizu; “the modalities will obviously take POCACOV to strong partnership with Ministry of Culture for our children and youths to see and appreciate various Nigerian rich cultures.

“Folk tales, riddles and jokes, proverbs amongst others, constitute cultural elements and messages that change behavioural patterns from negative to positive are contained in them and they seem to have disappeared.

“The partnership will rejig these elements and more, that are contained in our culture as well as that of EVERY CHILD IS EVERYBODYS CHILD despite who is the biological parents- a very strong African tradition.

“The partnership will also bring about strong collaborations between POCACOV and various Literary Societies because Literary Societies through their literary activities, serve as a mirror through which Nigerian Children/Youths learn culture and Norms of our society.

“POCACOV partnership with literary societies will help deepen the campaign to our children and youths through drama, literature, poetry, riddles, folk tales, proverb amongst others.

Amaraizu also stressed that Culture remains a veritable angle that POCACOV is making use of in its campaign because it contains our value system which is no longer there and we need to rejig it through stakeholders involvement and partnership.

“With culture, you can restore morality and value system which our children and youths no longer know. cultism, Sexual and Gender Based Violence, cyber crime and other vices are not part of our culture we need to rise up to the occasion for a safe and secured society by joining POCACOV in this campaign through advocacy, awareness creation/sensitizations, mentorship, re-orientation,” Amaraizu concluded.

POCACOV is the Initiative of the Nigeria Police force under IGP M.A Adamu aimed at saving Nigerian Children and Youths from the Claws of Cultism and Other Vices.
