A public health specialist and Convener of the #MakeOurHospitalWork Campaign, Dr Laz Eze has accepted the invitation of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG) to join its Health Policy Commission.
Dr. Eze will be joining other eminent Nigerian health experts within and outside the country to work in the Public Health thematic group. Through the newly created Health Policy Commission, NESG seeks to engage government, private sector, and the civil society on key health development issues and economic policies.
The commission is chaired by Dr Nkata Chuku – a health economist and Founding Partner of Health Systems Consult Limited (HSCL).
Speaking to our reporter, Dr Eze expressed delight with the opportunity for him to make further contributions to making the health system work for the Nigerian people.
According to him, the public health thematic group of the commission has prioritized providing support towards the implementation of policies on healthcare financing, adequate and improved working conditions for the health workforce as well as strengthening primary health care in Nigeria.
He thanked the NESG for setting up the new commission because Covid19 pandemic has made it very clear to everyone that the economy depends largely on public health.
