•Set for Peace March in Asaba on Monday

The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), ahead of the Abia State upcoming summit directed by the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu, has commenced its door-to-door grassroot campaign mechanism for effective community engagement, mobilization and result-oriented campaign.

According to the National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu, “the exercise which began on Sunday 20/9/20 by the chairman of the Abia state POCACOV Volunteer Club Amb. Darlington Kalu Onuoha and his team within Ngwa road, Umeje and Akoli Aba and its environs where they had engaged the youths on the dangers of cultism and the need to shun cultism and other vices to be a champion.

“The measure is part of the efforts towards deepening the campaign message of POCACOV and to gain robust partnership of stakeholders towards ending the menace for a safe, secured and peaceful society in line with the realization of GOAL 16(PEACE, JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS) of the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).”

Meanwhile, arrangements have been concluded for a successful and hitch free peace march in Asaba, Delta state on Monday during the occassion of the celebration of United Nations World Peace Day with the theme, “Shaping Peace Together.”

The activity which is organized by POCACOV in partnership with the Anti-cult volunteer corps led by Amb. Austin Emuh, and also the Delta state orientation bureau.

Amaraizu noted that “the PEACE MARCH will commence at about 10am local time from Summit Junction Asaba to Delta state Police Headquarters, Asaba where participants will be addressed by the commissioner of police in Delta state, kick off the launch of POCACOV campaign bill boards and banners in Delta state.

“The march by the POCACOV stakeholders, ambassadors and volunteers in Asaba will be used to deepen the message of peace and safe society devoid of cultism and other vices.”
