•Launches campaign bill board
The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) in partnership with the Anti-cult volunteer corps Delta state and the state orientation bureau on Monday, successfully conducted a peace walk which was held in commemoration of the United Nations World Peace Day with the theme “Shaping The Peace Together”.
It was gathered that participants which includes POCACOV stakeholders and ambassadors led by the Delta state Commissioner of Police, CP Hafiz M. Inuwa who was also accompanied by his deputy incharge of operations, dressed in their white POCACOV campaign T-shirts marched from summit junction, Asaba and walk through Okpanam road to the state police headquarters.
The commissioner addressed participants on the essence of the peace march and the need to continue to work with POCACOV which is community driven and structured by the Nigeria Police Force under IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu to work with different stakeholders in line with the tenets of community oriented policing in order to resolve issues of cultism and other vices affecting Nigerian children and youths for a safe and secured society.
He assured of his support and that of the state command, charging members of the public to be law abiding and always talk peace, walk peace and preach peace and “by so doing, help in shaping the peace together.”
CP Inuwa resolved to initiate actions towards reducing the incidents of cultism and its associated vices in the state in line with the direction of Abubakar Adamu-led Police Force towards stamping out cultism and other vices in Nigeria through community oriented policing approaches for a safe and secured society and ahead of the Delta state POCACOV summit.
The police commissioner, during the address of participants on the peace walk, flagged off POCACOV campaign of ‘door to campaign’ in the state as he inspected and unveiled the POCACOV/Anti-Cult Volunteer Corp campaign bill board located at DBS junction amongst other things.
Responding and expressing their gratitude to the commissioner of police on behalf of the National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu, the president of the Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps(AVC) and the POCACOV Lead Ambassador Delta state, Amb. Ogwu-Chinuwa Austyne Emu thanked the Inspector General of Police on the POCACOV initiative of the Nigeria Police Force as well as the efforts and the supportive role of the CP Inuwa aimed at reducing the incidences of cultism and other vices in the state through POCACOV stakeholders participation.
He also thanked the commissioner of police Delta for approving and flagging of Zonal Police Campaign Against Cultism and other vices for the eight area commands and their Divisions in Delta state to further deepen the campaign message.
