The 2021 Children’s Day celebrated on May 27, 2021 witnessed a new dimension from the Police Campaign Agaist Cultism and Other Vices(POCACOV) who embarked on hospital visitations of children’s ward with its major stakeholder and partner, Young Fellows Initiative (YFI).
Three hospitals were visited by POCACOV in partnership with YFI, a group of young Nigerians who believe in service to humanity.
Both groups joyfully visited the children’s wards of Parklane Specialist Hospital Enugu, National Orthopaedic Hospital and Ntasi Obi Ndi No Nafufu Hospitals Enugu where they celebrated Children’s Day with some Nigerian children who could not join their counterparts in the celebration owing to one health challenge or another.
During the visit, the children expressed their joy despite their health challenges and through their parents and guardians prayed to the group members and their families and thanked God for using the group to reach out to them.
According to the National Coordinator POCACOV, CSP Ebere Amaraizu and the National President Young Fellows Initiative, Amb. Ozonwachukwu Uche, the event was organized to purposely reach out to young Nigerian children who were shut off due to one ailment and health challenges from celebrating their day.
“It is our own little way of expressing care and love to the children since what we do revolve around them as the future champions,” they noted.
The program outline included payment of medical bill of children, distribution of provisions and Passion Talk to them on their various sick beds to reawaken the hope in them and to let them know that they are the future champions.
“We are raising their hope for self discovery and the need to think positively and believing in self, eschewing any act capable of taking them to negative tendencies or changing their minds but to constantly remain united with God and parents as well as their guardians,” Amaraizu said.
