…vows to deal with troublemakers

The Police Command in Enugu state, yesterday, urged residents to disregard the sit-at-home protest declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and go about their normal businesses on Monday, assuring them of adequate protection.

The Command stated that non-state actors or outlawed groups has no right to approve or issue such orders restricting movement or businesses in the state.

It further vowed to resist any individual or group planning to foment trouble or cause unrest/disorder in the state, warning them to desist from such illegitimate acts.

The statement by the Police Command noted: “The Command has reiterated its resolve to collaborate with other security agencies and peace-loving citizens to adequately provide public security and safety, enforce and/or maintain law and order in the state.

“It therefore, enjoins peace-loving citizens of the State to go about their lawful businesses, disregarding such orders not issued or approved by any statutorily recognized Organ and/or authorized Ministry, Department or Agency of Government, including the one purportedly restricting public movements and businesses on Monday.

“Accordingly, any individual and/or groups, who may want to hide under the guise of such illegitimate order to foment trouble in the State, have been warned to desist forthwith, as such attempts will be vehemently resisted and/or handled in accordance with the law.

“Also, residents of the State have been enjoined to remain vigilant and promptly report acts of criminality or breach of public peace to the nearest Police Station or by calling the Command’s emergency hotlines on: 08032003702, 08075390883, 08086671202 or 08098880172, please.”
