“I plead for your partnership, your prayers and your guidance”. With these words, Hon KGB Oguakwa made an impassioned appeal to Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State Chapter.

Hon Oguakwa made the appeal on Tuesday when he hosted the party leaders to a Consultative Meeting in his Enugu residence to seek their support to secure the ticket of the party for the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

In his speech, Hon KGB Oguakwa highlighted his modest achievements while he previously served at the House of Representatives.

“It was such a season when women were men, and men were heroes. The huge gains made, vis-a-vis improvement of Executive-Legislative Federal Budget Implementation rapprochement which exists today, is a direct result of the sacrifices which we made at the barricades during our tenure. Nigeria, and especially our beloved Aninri/Awgu/Oji-River Federal Constituency is today the better for it.

“Beyond the modest achievements in the area of actual sponsorship and enactment of Laws such as my landmark Civil Aviation Act, 2006, and the improvements in core areas of education, health, water and cultural industry infrastructure in our Constituency, skills acquisition, capacity development, jobs placements, direct personal cash intervention and empowerment schemes, I did indeed strive to maintain inclusive, non-discriminatory, cordial, economic value-adding and recurrent contact with Party Structure Executives and Stakeholders across our Constituency.”

Oguakwa explained that his respect for the Stakeholders who are the real guardians of the soul of the Peoples Democracy Party is borne out of experience and appreciation of their roles.

“I have not, will not and cannot even begin to think of reaching out to Delegates to the Primaries without first paying my respects to you Stakeholders and pleading for your Partnership. Theoretically, all Delegates belong to you”.

Oguakwa reiterated that, “my strong suits are loyalty, experience, competence, knowledge, honesty, inclusive mobilization, humility and unwavering hope and trust in God”.

Speaking at the Stakeholders Meeting, Hon Ugonna Ibe who is the Enugu State Commissioner for Tourism and Culture commended the humility and thoughtfulness of Oguakwa in convening and conducting the meeting and expressed appreciation for the inclusive recognition which Oguakwa has afforded Stakeholders of Awgu Local Government Area.

PDP stakeholder, Senator Emma Nzeorji, while speaking at the Meeting, commended KGB for his superlative public service during his previous terms in office and urged Oguakwa to bring his considerable experience to bear in improving upon all areas of representation when he is again elected “to represent us Greater Awgu people in the House of Representatives in 2023”.

Another stakeholder, Hon Joe Ani, praised Oguakwa for his focus, vision, efforts, his reliance on God and for his respect and recognition of the Stakeholders of the council area.

He also commended Oguakwa for his evident belief in and loyalty to “the Leader of Enugu State PDP in the person of the peace loving and compassionate Governor, His Excellency, Rt Hon Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi”.

Hon Polycarp Maduabuchi welcomed Oguakwa’s entry into the race and expressed the opinion that, since Awgu Local Government has served 3 consecutive terms at the House of Representatives, “by your imminent return to the House of Representatives in 2023, Oji-River Local Government will also have completed its own 3 terms too, thereafter it will be the turn of Aninri which has, for now and until this moment, held the Senate seat for 5 terms.”

Hon Solomon Egbo in his contribution stated that Hon KGB Oguakwa stood out and towered above all the other Aspirants, not only by virtue of his clear reliance on God, his respect for people high or lowly, but especially because his pedigree and record while in office inspire confidence that his candidacy was the most likely to bear good and sustainable fruits for “all of us in this Federal Constituency”, “infact “ he added, “ka KGB je zuo”.

Hon Uguru O. Uguru, erstwhile State Publicity Secretary of PDP Enugu, in his remarks, noted that the Aspirant is a truly discerning and attentive politician who, even through the inclusive spread in the assemblage of invited Stakeholders, showed his recognition of the fact that everybody, present or in absentia, is important and should be recognized and given his due”.

A Lagos-Based Lawyer and a Member of Pedro Nwankwo Local Government Chairmanship Campaign Organization, Barrister Oscar Mgbemena, assured Aspirant Oguakwa of the partnership of “we Stakeholders” and promised “to take the message to the nooks and crannies of Awgu Local Government Area”.
