An attempt by the Enugu Catholic Bishop Callistus Onaga to replace Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka with another priest at the Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), met stiff resistance from the congregation who attempted to mob the new priest on Sunday.
Mbaka himself announced the resumption of Adoration with Church Service Sunday, but the Adoration faithful who thronged the Adoration ground located in Emene to receive their spiritual Father were shocked with the ‘secret’ to change Mbaka with a new priest.
Mbaka who was given the difficult task of announcing his replacement could hardly finish the announcement than the crowd went wild in protest.
The revolt was soon directed at the new priest identified as one Fr. Anthony Amadi who had to be whisked away as the crowd surged to attack him.
The priest had to be rushed to the parish house built and occupied by Fr. Mbaka where he took refuge to escape from the angry Adorers.
Already the Adorers have vowed that no other priest would be welcomed to the Ministry alleging gang up from certain quarters in the church.
The Mbaka issue has long divided the Enugu Catholic Diocese and a fresh crisis is currently brewing as the followers of Mbaka have resolved to reject any “plot” to replace him (Mbaka).
Hmmm
Why are some catholics acting stupid
Any instructions given by a bishop should be obeyed
Attempting to hurt a priest is just crazy
This is very very uncatholic no priest owns a parish. Fr. Mbaka should stop this. If he is tired of the Catholic Church let him leave.
May God’s will be done! The leadership of the Catholic church posts and reposts its Priests from parish to parish on fixed or regular periods of say 4 years or thereabout. No one priest is stationed in one parish forever, except that Rev fr Mbaka’s own has become politically dramatic. May the holy spirit guide the Enugu bishop, the Diocesan college of Priests and the Catholic lay faithfuls to come over the devil’s incursions into the church!!!
