PDP Candidate For Udo/Ezeagu Fed. Constituency, Dr. F.S.A Uzor

Teachers serving in schools within Ezeagu local government area of Enugu State, have joined their Udi counterparts in pledging their support for the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the National and State Assembly in the 2023 general elections.

The teachers made the pledge on Wednesday, 26th October, 2022 at the Council Secretariat, Aguobu Owa on the occasion of the presentation of Certificate of Honour to deserving Head-teachers and teachers in the local government education system attended by the PDP’s candidates, leaders and critical stakeholders of the LGA.

The teachers in their respective speeches pledged their continuous, collective support for the good works of the state Governor, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. While, hoping that Dr Ugwuanyi would soon improve on their welfare, the teachers thanked the party stalwarts for coming to identify with them especially for their active participation in the deliberations that looked at possible ways of alleviating the current plight of teachers in the state.

The Chief host and Executive Chairman of Ezeagu LG Council, Hon. Chukwudi Ozoeluba in his welcome address, commended the guests for their supportive roles through which his administration has continued to render quality services to the people.

In an address on behalf of Secretaries in the Council, the Education Secretary, Nze Pius Chumaife remarked that the certificate presentation exercise to hard working teachers was first of its kind in the history of Enugu state, especially as it has to do with the Basic Education system in the Ezeagu Local Government Authority (LGEA).

Nze Chumafe appreciated the efforts of Head of Sections, the Quality Assurance Staff as well as others for critically discovering the best Head teachers and teachers that deserved to be recognised for their hard-work.He also thanked the visiting party candidates and other critical stakeholders in the Education sector for their presence on the occasion stating that their participation in the discuss would go a long way in policy formulation aimed at addressing the challenges faced by teachers in all ramifications.

The overall best Head-teacher at the occasion, Mrs. Philomena Aniagbaoso on behalf of other awardees, expressed profound gratitude to the organisers of the event and the leaders for their presence which she said, signifies the importance which government attaches to developments in the education sector.

According to Mrs. Aniagboso, the award ceremony also reflected the recognition of the collective efforts of the entire teachers in Ezeagu LGA towards building a decent society populated by knowledgeable individuals and groups. The recipient of the best Head teacher’s award assured the party candidates in the forth coming election of their resolve to vote massively for them and however charged them to remember to fulfil their own side of the obligations when elected into office.

Reacting, the PDP’s Senatorial candidate for Enugu West, Chief Osita Ngwu, RG, commended the Ezeagu LG Education Secretary, Nze Pius Chumaife and his team for their exemplary leadership.

Engr. Ngwu paid glowing tribute to the awardees and reminded the authority of the need to have the award ceremony sustained for the purpose of encouraging the teaching staff within the Council area to maintain improved teaching standards.

In his remark, the immediate past Chief of Staff, Government House, Enugu and Udi/Ezeagu federal constituency candidate for the PDP, Dr. F.S.A. Uzor extolled the professional capacity of teachers which he said, matches the crucial roles they play as change agents in the Society.

Dr Uzor, a former Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly (ENHA) called for a boost in the reward system in the sector for the purpose of a sustainable quality human capital development in the modern Nigerian state. He also appealed for continued support and prayers for the PDP and the State government particularly for better governance in the state.

Similarly, the PDP candidate for Ezeagu constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly and incumbent member of the Assembly,Hon. Chima Obieze who appreciated the efforts of teachers in nation building said initiative is beautiful and equally commendable and will continue to have his support because the teachers indeed are the bedrock of every nation.

Obieze said he was born of a teacher and as such, can feel their pulse and the rigorous work that comes with their efforts to see to the breeding of vibrant, intelligent, and smart students who are also our siblings.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to the best performing Head-teacher and teachers drawn from the four Development Education Centres in the Council Area by Engr. Osita Ngwu, Dr. F.S.A. Uzor,. Hon. Chima Obieze and the Council Chairman, Hon. Chukwudi Ozoeluba, respectively.

The Director Generals (DGs) of Enugu West Campaign Council and notable stakeholders witnessed the event.
