The Enugu Government has ordered the immediate deployment of security agents to Ikem-Isioroto community in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of the State to stop the rising case of kidnap in the area.

This is one of the outcomes of the meeting between Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and the leaders of the community at the Government House on Tuesday.

In the past week, the area has been plagued with kidnapping of the Indigenes of the area by suspected natives. The kidnappers continued the act in the early hours of Tuesday.

During the meeting, the Traditional ruler of Ikem, Igwe Okey Ogbodo and the President-General of the Community, Professor Sam Ugwu, in their speeches thanked the Governor for his efforts in securing the state, especially as it affects their Isi-Uzo local government and revealed that the natives as well as some persons from the neighbouring Benue State are responsible for the act.

They also informed the Governor of their willingness to assist the government and the security agencies in intelligence gathering while  appealing for security agencies to be deployed to the hot-spot.

Responding, Governor Ugwuanyi assured them that all necessary steps will be taken to bring the situation under control, while informing them that security agents have been deployed to assist the state sponsored local vigilante. The deployment of the security agents the Governor said is with immediate effect.

In a related development, JOURNALIST101 learnt that a man suspected to have participated in the kidnap of a commuter earlier today in the area has been arrested.
The man who was later discovered to be from Benue State was seen with dried blood on his body. He has been handed over to the police for Investigation.
