The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) has said no witness will take the stand for oral testimony in the ongoing legal contests against the results of the February 25 presidential election.

The tribunal ordered on Tuesday that witnesses will be required to give their testimony on oath in written form after which it will be adopted and cross-examined.

The tribunal also ordered the consolidation of all the petitions in line with the provisions of paragraph 50 of the first schedule of the Electoral Act.

The court stated that the petitions revolve around one and the same election hence despite objections from some lawyers, the tribunal will treat all petitions against the results of the February 25 presidential election as one and the same.

The court further stated that the hearing will commence on Tuesday, May 30, and the hearing of the petitions will last three weeks, including Saturdays.
