Ogui-Agu Community, Udi LGA, Enugu State
Eke community with the Permanent Secretary, Ecological funds at her office, to thank her for the laudable project in their community.

The people of Ogui-Agu Eke in Udi local government area of Enugu State, have absolved the Ecological Funds office and her former permanent secretary Dr. Mrs. Habiba M. Lawal of alleged project diversion in the community.

The people of Oma-Eke had dragged Ecological Funds office to court over alleged diversion of project meant for their community.

But the people of Ogui-Agu Eke said that’s not the true position of things and the Ecological Funds office is innocent of any accusation.

Hon. Chief Sergius Aliozor, the immediate past President General of the community in a chat with Journalist101, said he met with the leaders of Oma-Eke Community and he enlightened them about the true position of things.

Chief Aliozor said that “before the approval for the project (which wasn’t even initiated by the people of Oma-Eke as they claim) came, Enugu State government under Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as Governor had constructed the said road.

“When the team from Ecological fund came, they said the project has been done and they can’t do the same project there as it has been completed. They said the project will be taken to another state in dire need of the intervention. It took the intervention of our leaders from Udi that wrote the office to spread the project in other parts of our local government rather than taking it away.

“The people of Oma-Eke even got more than what our leaders were seeking to get from the Federal Government. The road done by the state government is 2.8 kilometres while 2.5km was what the Ecological Funds was expected to do. Their protest is misplaced and very confusing,” he said.

Chief Aliozor lamented that the continued negative press will stop further interventions in their community and appealed to their brothers to desist from maligning the Ecological Funds office.

Corroborating the story, the present PG of Ogui-Agu Eke, Chief Hillary Nwabuisi said he has led his people to Ecological Funds Office to appeal to them to ignore the negative publications and come to their aid on the road.

“Ecological Funds did a project in our place which is in the same Eke community and I don’t understand why they should be talking about diversion of project. Should they have taken the project to another state?” Nwabuisi said.
