The Enugu Branch of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has been thrown into mourning again less than 4 days after the death of Mr. Jimmy Edeabasi Abaekong, Africa Independent Television reporter.
On Wednesday, the leadership of the Union in the state confirmed the death of Mr. Charles Akagu. He worked with Enugu owned Daily Star.
Late Akagu was the Chairman of Daily Star Chapel and reportedly died after a protracted illness.
“With heavy heart, the SWC and SEC of NUJ Enugu State Council announce the death of the State Chairman of Daily Star Chapel, Charles Akagu whose sad event occurred on Sunday night but made known to the Secretariat today after a protracted illness.
“Charles will greatly be missed by all. Oh! death were is thy sting!” message by Dame Ifeoma Amuta, Secretary, NUJ Enugu Chapter, announcing Akagu’s demise reads.
