The Ìgwè Elect of Ogugu Ntu-egbenese Ancient Kingdom, Chief Aloysius Chidozie Ogbonna, has called on Christians to use the opportunity presented by this year’s Easter celebration to pray for our political leaders.
Chief Aloysius Ogbonna made this known on Saturday through a press statement he personally signed and sent to newsmen.
He stated that this season is one of renewal and rebirth, which calls for reflection on the profound love of God, as exemplified in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Quoting John 3:16, he emphasized the selfless love that Easter symbolizes and encouraged everyone to emulate Christ’s love in their lives.
The Chief also urged the faithful to strengthen their faith during this Easter, trusting in God’s promises and believing in His transformative power. He quoted Saint Augustine, saying, “Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe,” highlighting the importance of faith in understanding God’s plan.
Referring to the inspirational words of Saint Teresa of Calcutta, Chief Aloysius Ogbonna emphasized the importance of spreading love and joy, especially to those in need. He encouraged everyone to embody this spirit of love and generosity throughout the Easter season and beyond.
As families and friends gather to celebrate, Chief Ogbonna reminded everyone of the true meaning of Easter: redemption, forgiveness, and new beginnings. He stressed the importance of forgiveness and allowing the light of Christ’s resurrection to illuminate their hearts and minds.
In addition to the Easter message, Chief Aloysius Ogbonna urged everyone to pray earnestly for political leaders, specifically mentioning their own Governor, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. He called for prayers for God’s protection, guidance, and wisdom for Governor Mbah to lead with integrity, compassion, and excellence.
He however, extended Easter blessings of peace, love, and renewed hope to everyone, wishing that the joy of the risen Lord remains with them and their loved ones always.
The statement reads :
A Joyous Easter Message with a Call for Prayer for Our Political Leaders
As we joyfully celebrate Easter in Ogugu Ntu-egbenese Ancient Kingdom and across the globe, I extend heartfelt greetings of peace, love, and blessings to each one of you. Easter is a time of profound significance in the Christian faith, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness, hope over despair, and life over death.
In this season of renewal and rebirth, let us reflect on the profound love of God, as exemplified in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). This timeless biblical quote reminds us of the selfless love that underpins Easter and encourages us to emulate Christ’s love in our lives.
Saint Augustine once said, “Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.” This Easter, let us strengthen our faith, trusting in God’s promises and believing in His transformative power. May our faith lead us to a deeper understanding of His divine plan for each of us.
Saint Teresa of Calcutta, known for her unwavering faith and compassionate service to the poor, inspires us with her words: “Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.” Let us embody this spirit of love and generosity, reaching out to those in need and sharing the joy of Easter with all whom we encounter.
As we gather with family and friends, let us not forget the true meaning of Easter: redemption, forgiveness, and new beginnings. Let us forgive as we have been forgiven, and let the light of Christ’s resurrection illuminate our hearts and minds.
Furthermore, I urge us to use this auspicious time to lift our voices in prayer for our political leaders, especially our own Governor, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. Let us pray fervently for God’s protection, guidance, and wisdom to preside over him, enabling him to lead our dear state with integrity, compassion, and excellence.
In closing, I pray that this Easter fills your life with blessings, peace, and renewed hope. May the joy of the risen Lord be with you and your loved ones today and always.
Yours in Christ,
Chief Aloysius Chidozie Ogbonna
