Amidst escalating fuel scarcity, the Federal Government (FG) has initiated a 15-day emergency fuel supply plan. This initiative aims to ensure nationwide availability of the commodity.

The government has announced that fuel import vessels will continue to dock at coastal ports to replenish depot stocks. These depots will then distribute fuel to gas stations across the country.

According to the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria, eight vessels have delivered 300 million liters of fuel to its members in Apapa and other parts of Lagos this week.

Additionally, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority confirmed that 240 million liters were offloaded at depots on Monday, with an additional 85 million liters on Tuesday evening.

Despite these measures, fuel queues at filling stations persist. On May Day, roads in Ogun, Lagos, and other states remained congested with vehicles waiting to purchase fuel. Some individuals have even resorted to parking their vehicles until fuel becomes available.
