Members of the House of Representatives at plenary

The members of the House of Representatives in the 3rd Republic have appealed to President Tinubu to look into their grievances including payment of their outstanding salaries and allowances for the 11 months the National Assembly lasted before it was truncated.

The lawmakers under the auspices of the 3rd Republic House of Representatives Members Forum said the 3rd Republic House was made of 91 senators and 593 members.

According to them, out of the number, many of them had died without getting their benefits, leaving only 400 members of the 3rd Republic.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Gabriel Eniotu, who represented Afikpo federal constituency, Ebonyi state in the 3rd republic, the former lawmakers commended Tinubu for making bold and courageous efforts to turn Nigeria around.

They described the policies and decisions of the government as those that were capable of taking Nigeria out of economic doldrums and appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the government.

While congratulating the Tinubu-led administration on this year’s democracy day celebrations, the former lawmakers expressed delight at some of the bold initiatives of the government and noted that only someone like Tinubu can be bold enough to toe that line.

They noted that Tinubu having served with them as the Chairman Senate and House of Representatives Taskforce Committee for determination of the account of the National Assembly then and having also served as governor of Lagos State is well grounded in the governance of the country.

The former lawmakers also noted that the institution of June 12 as democracy day in honour of Late M. K. O. Abiola, the winner of the June 12, 1993 election was laudable and commended former President Mohammed Buhari for the gesture.
