The popular Karu Market, located in one of the suburbs of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, is currently in flames following an evening fire incident.
Reports said that the fire which is yet to be contained is causing widespread panic among traders and shoppers.
Eyewitnesses say emergency services have been called to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and no casualties have been reported so far.
Local authorities are urging residents to avoid the area to allow emergency responders to do their work while security has been mobilised to prevent looting of shops by hoodlums
