Oyo State Police Command has apprehended eight alleged serial ritual killers and 15 other suspects for murder, robbery, and rape.
Commissioner CP Ayodele Sonubi announced this while parading the suspects in Ibadan on Friday.
Sonubi stated that the command received a report from Ayede on August 10 concerning a suspected serial ritual killer and took immediate action.
He mentioned that community members detected a foul odor emanating from a building owned by the 40-year-old suspect, who does not live there.
The Commissioner added that the man often visited the house at unusual times.
CP Sonubi stated: Officers from Moniya Divisional Police Headquarters promptly responded and arrived at the location, where a dry well was located in the house’s compound. r>. Upon closer inspection, gruesome scenes resembling mutilated human bodies were discovered inside the well.
The bodies of three unidentified individuals were eventually taken to the State Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The CP stated that the suspect had been arrested and confessed to the crime, also revealing the names of some accomplices in the murder for money rituals, who are currently at large.
Sonubi stated that in April, the suspect and others still at large lured a 28-year-old man to the same location at Moniya, where they beheaded him and severed his legs, then sold the body parts to two other suspects.
He stated that the suspect also admitted to murdering a 17-year-old boy by stabbing him on August 7. The suspect, along with others who are not yet apprehended, then severed the boy’s head and legs and sold them to a female suspect for N70,000.
He stated, On August 11, around 0630 hours, a search warrant was executed at the suspects’ houses and premises, where the victim’s fresh flesh was found. r>. During the investigation, additional suspects were apprehended and admitted to purchasing various human parts for a money ritual from the 40-year-old suspect. r>. In an interview, the suspect, professing to be an Islamic cleric, admitted to beginning money ritual killings in 2024, with at least five victims. r>. He stated that he would charge N200,000 for money ritual tasks. r>. Recovered exhibits from the suspects reportedly included a dried human skull, a charm, 89 bags of cannabis sativa, a motorcycle, and a cutlass, among other items. r>. The CP reported that Muyideen Raimi was apprehended for exhuming and beheading his deceased cousin, Sulaiman Aromokun. r>. Raimi, along with an accomplice still at large, reportedly exhumed his cousin’s body from the Aromokun compound in Isale Ijebu, Ibadan. r>. The commissioner announced that police have arrested Muyideen Raimi for exhuming and decapitating his deceased cousin, Sulaiman Aromokun, from his burial site at the Aromokun compound in Isale Ijebu, Ibadan. r>. Raimi was arrested by the police with a severed head and confessed to the crime, implicating Sumaila, also known as Baba Ibeji, who is still at large.
