The Enugu SME centre has announced the commencement of the second phase of the Enugu Digital Skills Training (EDST) Program which is designed specifically for civil servants.

The Special Adviser to Governor Peter Mbah on Digital Economy and MSMEs & Director General, Enugu SME Center, Mr Arinze Chilo-Offiah, said the training is important in driving the State’s digital transformation and economic growth.

Mr. Chilo-Offiah added that the first phase exposed the fact that digital skills aren’t just a bonus—they’re a necessity. Whether it’s navigating AI on WhatsApp or mastering tools like Microsoft Excel.

He added that the training which is an initiative of the State Government through the Enugu SME Agency, “aligns with His Excellency Dr. Peter Mbah’s vision to empower our civil service with the digital tools needed for growth and efficiency.

“Whether you’re a beginner or looking to enhance your skills, this program will help you work smarter, not harder. Plus, these skills will boost your productivity not just at work but in your everyday life too!”

He also noted that “the participants will be exposed to Digital Literacy Essentials Training (Basic & Intermediate Levels) and Microsoft Excel Training. Participants will undergo an initial assessment to ensure they’re placed in the right class—Basic or Intermediate.

“Participation in this program is now a mandatory consideration for promotion within the civil service.
