Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has declared that members of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples Organization of Biafra, IPOB, can\u2019t use the state to launch their attacks.<\/p>\n
The governor also urged the 23 local government chairmen, and youths in the state not to allow IPOB to hold demonstrations and hoist its flag within their jurisdictions.<\/p>\n
Wike said this during a meeting with the Community Development Committees, youths leaders, and presiding council officers at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday.<\/p>\n
According to a statement signed by Kelvin Ebiri, his Special Assistant on Media, Governor Wike labeled Rivers state as the most accommodating state for all Nigerians.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe can never be against any ethnic group. We can never do that. We have lived in harmony with the Igbos, the Hausas, and Edo people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverybody that comes to this state we have lived in harmony with. So Nigerians must commend Rivers State as a place where you\u2019ve never had a problem between this group and that group.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s one terrorist group they call IPOB. I didn\u2019t declare them a terrorist group; the court declared them a terrorist group, not me.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe federal government declared them a terrorist group. IPOB can\u2019t use Rivers State to be a place where they\u2019ll be launching attacks. If you allow that, your future, your children\u2019s future is gone,\u201d Wike added.<\/p>\n
