A renowned Nigerian philanthropist and business mogul, Sir Alex Ikwechegh has launched a scholarship scheme for indigent students in Abia State.

Igbere TV reports that the program which will kick off in September, 2019 will cover the 3 senatorial districts in the state (Abia North, Abia Central and Abia South).

Both primary and secondary schools students whose parents cannot afford to pay their tuition fees will benefit from the scheme.

Speaking with Igbere TV correspondent, Ikwechegh revealed that he is always touched whenever he sees children who are intelligent but can’t go to school because their parents are financially handicapped.

He said the scholarship will be given to over 200 students who are doing well academically and these children will be selected from various villages in Abia state.

“It always sadden my heart each time I see children who are intelligent but can’t go to school because their parents don’t have the money to do so “.

” This is why I have decided to give more scholarship to children in Abia state in order to encourage them that no condition is permanent. “

“Remember, education is the key to success. And no nation will thrive or move forward without education. Although, we already have 50 students currently benefitting from this scholarship scheme but this is the right time to expand it.”

“By the special grace of God, over 200 students will benefit from the scholarship scheme once it kicks off in September. So I encourage parents, guidance, to register for the program by visiting our office at 174 Jubilee Road Aba Or they can call Chief Kalu uche on this phone number 08064119000 for more information,” he added.

Igbere TV recalls that Ikwechegh in 2017 spent over 100 million naira in various areas of developmental projects and human empowerment .

He renovated the Igbere secondary school, built and donated a new Nepa office, donated vehicles to the Igbere vigilanteee services and also the clergy.

The offices which he renovated now wear new looks of restored vibrancy.

He also empowered widows, youths in all the senatorial district in Abia State through his foundation.

During the donation of the vehicles to the vigilante group, Ikwechegh noted that the security of his people is of his paramount concern.
