Senator Bukola Saraki has paid a visit to former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

Premium Times reports that the Senate president arrived at the home of Obasanjo in the evening on Monday, August 13.

The duo went in for a private meeting after the arrival of Saraki.

Although details of the meeting have not been made public yet, there are rumours it is related to Saraki’s possible presidential ambition ahead of 2019.

Saraki recently defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party and has been in a tussle with his former party to relinquish his position as Senate president.

The visit comes five days after Saraki visited the Minna residence of former military President Ibrahim Babaginda.

The senate president also met with chairmen of 45 political parties last week.

Saraki’s trip to the influential Nigerians happened after he hinted at running for president.

Obasanjo and Babginda have asked President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek reelection.
