NUJ 2018 convention: Electoral committee warns against hate speech, submission of fake certificate
Ahead 26th September 2018 Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ National convention slated to hold in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, the electoral committee yesterday warn aspirants to shun hate speeches, submission of fake credentials and ensure they adhere to the rules of the election.
A member of the committee, Mr. Ossai who made the disclosure in Enugu when an Aspirant to the position of the President, South East zone C, Prince Petrus Obi picked his nomination form said that the committee would not hesitate to take disciplinary actions against anyone found to have submitted fake documents to the committee or engage in campaign of calumny and hate speeches.
Mr. Ossai who is the Vice Chairman of the Enugu State Council urged all aspirants to ensure that they go through the electoral guidelines and ensure they comply to the latter all the provisions pointing out that the committee would ensure that all the aspirants meet with the criteria as contained in the guidelines.
He warned the aspirants against campaigning before the ban on campaign is lifted adding that the committee had already issued a note of warning to those who had earlier started campaigning.
He gave the date for the submission of all the completed form as 12th of August 2018 noting that any aspirants who fails to submit his or her completed form on or before the stipulated date should endure to submit the form on the 13th of August in Abuja.
He assured all the aspirants of a level playing field as the committee would not witch-hunt any candidate.
Mr. Petrus Obi thanked the committee for the assurance of allowing for a level playing field and promise to abide by the rules of the election.
