Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has described the just-concluded National Convention of the party as the best and most credible.
Atiku scored 1532 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Aminu Tambuwal, who polled 693 votes.
Speaking shortly after he clinched the keenly contested ticket, Atiku urged members not to be intoxicated by power in carrying out fair electoral processes when the party reclaims power in 2019.
Atiku said: “This is the most credible primary election that has ever been conducted in this country.
“I commend the National Working Committee on the Electoral process PDP has ever taken since the inception of this party.
“I hope we are able to keep up with the electoral process and not be intoxicated by power when we reclaim power in 2019.
“I need your assurance, support assistance and participant. I cannot do it alone as it is a collective responsibility.
“I am prepared to take your advice, work with you as we together succeed in 2019. I am moved by the outcome of this convention.
Speaking on Obasanjo impact in his political career, Atiku thanked the former president for making him his Vice President.
“Under his tutelage I had so many experiences, which will help me in achieving more in power.
“I wish to pay my personal tribute to him,” Atiku added
