A Federal high Court sitting in Abuja have ordered the Nigeria Police Force to pay the sum of N50Million to Our MumuDonDo Movement.

In a statement released by the co-converner of the group, Deji Adeyanju, the court also ordered that aside the N50Million to be paid to the group, the Police should also tender an official apology to members of the group on two national newspaper over the unprovoked brutal attack on the members during one of its protest in Abuja tagged, #ResumeOrResign.

He wrote; “‪BREAKING: Federal High Court in Abuja orders Nigerian Police to pay the #OurMumuDonDo Movement N50Million and also tender an official apology on two National Newspapers over the unprovoked brutal attack on our members during the #ResumeOrResign protest in Abuja”.

It will be recalled that on October 3, 2018, Converner of the #OurMumuDonDo group, Charles ‘Charly Boy’ Oputa had dragged the Nigeria police to court over attacks on its members.

He asked the court to make a compelling order on the FCT police and its commissioner to tender a public apology to him in five national newspapers.

He also prayed the court to order the Police to pay the sum of N100 million as general damages to the applicant and N400 million be paid as exemplary damages by the police.

He also prayed the court to make an order of perpetual injunction restraining the police and its agents from further interfering with or violating the applicant’s fundamental rights to dignity of the human person, freedom of expression, peaceful assembly and association.
