Four members of the House of Representatives elected under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on Tuesday dumped the party for other political parties.
The defectors include Abiodun Awoleye and Dapo Lam Adesina from Oyo State who left APC for Accord Party and African Democratic Congress (ADC) respectively
Others are Segun Williams from Ogun State who moved to the Labour Party and Lawal Hassan from Zamfara State who joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The notice of defections was read by Speaker Yakubu Dogara on the floor of the House of Representatives during Tuesday’s plenary.
“I write to formally inform the House of my formal defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Accord Party.”
“The decision was arrived at after having followed developments at the APC, which have brought irreconcilable differences, divisions and factions; scenarios I consider not healthy for our democratic system and are unacceptable within the larger community of my constituents.”
“In accordance with relevant provisions of the law, I hereby request that all necessary documentations shall be in accord with this notice. Please accept the assurances of my highest regards,” Abiodun Awoleye’s letter read.
