Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State yesterday raised alarm over a fresh arrival of a large number herdsmen into some parts of the state.
Governor Ortom raised the alarm during the rite of atonement and purification of Mbalom land in honour of two Catholic priests and 17 parishioners killed in April this year.
Speaking at St. Ignatius Quasi Parish, Ukpor-Mbalom in Gwer East Local Government Area, the governor said; “I was alerted that Fulani herdsmen have started moving from Nasarawa to Guma and Gwer West LGAs,” he said.
The governor also said “some people in high places were bent on changing the narrative of Benue killings at all cost, by blaming the tragedy on the victims when the alleged perpetrators had on many occasions admitted their crime.
