Officers of the Borno state command of the Nigeria Police Force have successfully averted a suicide bomb attack in Maiduguri, the state capital, News Agency of Nigeria reports.
The Borno state commissioner of police who confirmed the incident to News Agency of Nigeria said that the incident occurred at about 08:30pm in the outskirts of Maiduguri.
Mr. Chukwu said that the teenage female bomber was about to infiltrate a security checkpoint before security men shot at her and the Improvised Explosive Device vest strapped to her body exploded.
He said the explosion blew the girl into pieces, noting that there were no other casualties in the attack.
The commissioner also noted that his men from the Explosive Ordinance Department have been drafted to the area for sanitization.
