The duo of President Muhammadu Buhari and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole have vowed that they will deliver the senatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Enugu East Senatorial zone, Prince Lawrence Ezeh to the Senate come February 16 2019. They also said that the APC is poised to ensure that every candidate of the APC, from presidency down to House of Representatives wins their seats to ensure a consolidated government.
The president and Oshiomhole, who is the National Chairman of the party were speaking at the official flag-off campaign rally of the party in Enugu State, which held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Stadium, Enugu.
The President in his speech, expressed delight about the quality of National Assembly candidates marshaled out by Enugu State APC, and hoped to have a robust relationship with them.
Presenting Prince Ezeh and other senatorial candidates the party flag at the podium yesterday, Oshiomhole said “Our campaign is from the top to the bottom, and I need to define it. We need our president to continue the good work he has started, so that the work going on at Niger Bridge will not be terminated. The only way to guarantee it is for Mr President to have another four years, so when we say four plus four, there is a purpose. We want the dualization of roads going on in different parts of the South East to go on.
“We don’t want a lonely president. our electoral system is based on the separation of powers. If we have the president getting votes, and the senators don’t get votes, this president cannot function. Everybody that believe in President Muhammadu Buhari must also believe in the candidature of the three senatorial candidates that are contesting for elections on February 16. We must also believe in believe in the candidature of all the contestants for the House of Representatives for APC. It is the same broom, broom for president, broom for senate, broom for reps. But remember, we don’t want to govern Nigeria in Abuja and you don’t have your governors in the states. That is why it will amount to anti-party activity for anybody to say ‘vote this way, and not that way’. After you have voted on February 16, please come out on March 2 and vote APC, because this historic city of Enugu is not the birthright of a particular political party, and I believe the energy, the creativity, the doggedness, the passion with which Ayogu Eze has mobilized and organized has shown that he won’t be exhausted as the next governor of this great state.
“But also remember that governors cannot function without members of the House of Assembly. So with the same principle, when you vote, you must also vote all members of the House of Assembly. So it is from top to the bottom, no bend bend, no corner corner, straight”, Oshiomhole stated.
