The APC Guber candidate in Enugu State Distinguished Senator Ayogu Eze has reiterated that the abnormality happening in Enugu State can’t stand because the actions of INEC in the build up to the election has shown that they have failed to provide a level playing field for all candidates vying for elective positions in the state.
Speaking to his supporters in his Country home, Umuida Igboeze North LGA, he said “without any form of announcement, INEC delisted my name when they published what they called final list of governorship candidates in the country.
“We challenged it in court and on Thursday, the 7th of March, 2019, the court of Appeal in Abuja gave an order that I’m the authentic candidate of the APC in Enugu State.
“As required by law, we served INEC by 5PM on the same day the judgement was given, they promised to restore our name on the Final list of candidates which they promised to do. As I am talking to you, till this moment, INEC is yet to restore my name on the list which amounts to breaking of the law by INEC and their action(s) is(are) aimed at causing disenchantment amongst my supporter and cause confusion.
“The whole idea is to manipulate the election in a manner that will go to a predetermined end.
“I want to assure you that INEC will do their best, but that will not stand. We will make sure that doesn’t stand. We will do everything possible within our legal right to challenge this injustice, to challenge this unlawful exclusion of our candidate from the list and make sure that the right thing is done.
“In addition to the exclusion of our name by INEC, our agents were also excluded at the CBN premises within Enugu where the election materials were being shared. All the sensitive materials for the election have been compromised and we told INEC that the only remedy is to cancel the election and create a level playing field for all candidates contesting for the election.”
He thanked his supporters across the state and enjoined them to remain law abiding as this illegality by INEC will not stand.
