Since his reelection by the people of Abia State at the March 9 polls, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, has continued to receive congratulatory messages from Abians across political divides.
This time around, it was candidate of Justice Must Prevail Party (JMPP) at the just concluded gubernatorial election in the State, Chief Charles Okereke, that has congratulated the winner, Dr Ikpeazu, on his landslide victory at the polls, describing the election as free and fair.
This is against the backdrop of calls by some opposition parties on INEC to cancel the State’s gubernatorial election.
Briefing journalists at Government House, Umuahia, in company of his state party Chairman, Ifeanyi Mgbemena, Okereke noted that the victory of Governor Ikpeazu is victory for all Abians, hence, the need to join hands with the him, irrespective of party affiliation, to develop the state.
The JMPP Guber candidate further advised opposition parties in the state to sheathe their swords and channel their resources to state development rather than litigations which he said will slow down the wheel of progress and development in Abia state.
“We need to join hands with Dr Okezie Ikpeazu in moving the state forward instead of bearing grudges and wasting personal, party and state resources in going to court.
“Our resources this time around should not end up in court but in both human and physical developments of Abia state”, he said.
While commending INEC for the peaceful conduct of the elections in the State, Okereke assured the governor of the support of his party in the onerous but desirable task of developing the state.
