Former aide to ex President Goodluck Jonathan and a renown critic of President Muhammad Buhari’s administration, Reno Omokri have reacted to the plan of the FG to shut down the only international airport in the south east (though the airport won’t pass for a car park in sane clime).
The Federal government through the minister of state for transport Hadi Sirika said the airport will be degraded for international operations because the runway length is not ideal for such operations.
According to him, the market, television masts and free trade zone needs to be relocated for the airport to be fit for safe flights.
Reacting to this development, Reno wondered why a government that has not shutdown the airport in terrorist prone areas of Bornu and Yola will be quick to shutdown the only international airport in the south east .
“You have not shut down Borno or Yola Airports, even though terrorists are operating nearby.
“But it is the ONLY international airport in the SE that you want to shut down for ‘security reasons’. The more @MBuhari OPPRESSES the Igbo, the more they‘ll THRIVE” he said.
In a swift reaction, Enugu State government had orders the immediate closure of the market close to the airport and the relocation of the telecommunication mast the minister of transport (state) stated as reasons for the planned shutdown of the airport.
