The wait for the person that will preside over the 9th Senate has ended.
The contest for the office was between two APC Senator’s from the North East of the country.
Ahmed Lawan representing Yobe North, the preferred candidate of the hierarchy of the ruling APC was Yahaya nominated by Abdullahi, Senator representing Kebbi North and seconded by Adeola Solomon Olamilekan, Senator representing Lagos West garnerd a total of 79 votes while the the prodigal son, who chose to defy the position of his party, Ali Ndume was nominated by Isiaku Elijah Cliff (PDP) representing Adamawa North nominates while Mpigi Barinda (PDP) representing Rivers South East seconded scored a total of 28 votes.
With the outcome of the open-secret voting system adopted by the Senate, Lawan will be presiding over the 9th Senate as the president of the Senate and the head of the legislative arm of the government.
