Reports coming in form the National Assembly indicates that sporadic shootings are going on at the first entrance gate to the National Assembly as Policemen and other security agents are trying to stop protesting members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also called Shiites, from gaining entrance.
The police In a Public Service Announcement, PSA, via their official twitter handle adviced the public to remain calm, avoid the areas in question as they try to contain the situation.
“There is a violent protest currently ongoing by members of the El-Zakzakky Group in some parts of the FCT – particularly the Central Business District and the Three Arms Zone.
“The Police are taking adequate measures to bring the situation under control.
“Citizens are advised to remain calm and avoid the affected areas in the interim. The Police will keep the public abreast with further development” the police said.
