Following the proscription order by the FG having obtained an order from a Federal High Court, the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, also known as the Shi’ites group, has announced the suspension of its street protests.
The group made the announcement on Wednesday after the Federal Government gazetted their proscription on Tuesday.
It said the protests being used to call for the release of its detained leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky; his wife and others, was suspended to give room for “some new openings” into the resolution of the matter which will involve going to court to seek redress.
