OWERRI— All is now set for the Imo State University Alumni Association to host the 3rd Annual Global Convention of the association in Owerri, Imo state capital.
According to the programme of event which was approved by the National Executive Council of the Alumni Association, the event will begin with the arrival of all participating graduates of Imo State University from all the chapters around the world on Thursday 8th August, 2019 through to Sunday, 11th of August, 2019, the date of departure.
In a statement issued by the National Public Relations Officer of the Association, Dr. Ugochukwu Lawrence Okorozoh, the 4-day event, as outlined in the circular, is billed to begin with arrival and registration of the graduates and has the following programme lined up below.
“On Thursday, August 8, the invitees will be receive a cocktail treat by the host at Maranatha Hotel by 8pm.
“Registration of the participants would begin on Friday, August 9 at the Hotel, followed by House of Friendship (Business Exhibition) by 10:00am at the Maranatha Hotel Conference Hall.
“Visitation to the Orphanage home is scheduled to hold by 11:00am, following a courtesy visit to the state governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha at the State Government House by 12:00 pm.
“A Town Hall Meeting will commence by 2:00 pm at the IMSU auditorium, rounding up with a tree planting exercise.
“On Friday evening by 5:00pm, there will be a food challenge at Eastern Emirates, dinner by 7:00pm at Transtell Hotel while the Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take off by 8:00 pm at the same Hotel.
“The participants are expected to continue on Saturday, August 10 with a road walk at 7:00am from the IICC Warehouse junction while the main program will kick off by 11:00am at Imo Concorde Hotel.
“Other programmes on Saturday includes: arrival of distinguished personalities and guests, call to order and other formalities by National Director of Social, Mr. Innocent Ekeopara, presentation of a welcome speech by the Host Chairman, Dr. Anayo Uhiara, an opening remark by the chairman of the occasion, High Chief Johnbosco Ozigbu, an address by the president, Prince Ezeala Ferdinand Akano, presentation of lecture on relationship building in Alumni Associations by Prof. B.E.B Nwoke, panel discussion, launching/inauguration of Alumni mantra and decoration of ambassadors, ending with a Gala night.
“The event will finally wind up on Sunday, August 11 with an interdenominational thanksgiving service at St. Joseph Chaplaincy by 9:00am, followed by departure of participants.”
