Following the murder of Very Rev Fr. Paul Offu of St. James De greater parish Ugbawka in Nkanu East Local government of Enugu state & the rising Spate of insecurity in the state, COAL CITY YOUTHS INITIATIVE has condemned and denounced the provocative action by fulani heardsmen & call on them to leave Enugu state if they do no longer enjoy the Peaceful atmosphere.
They made the condemnation on Saturday in Enugu during their State executive chat.
In an interview, the Director General of the movement Comrade Johnpaul Anih, extolled
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for the steps taken so far and urged him to re-double his efforts in strengthening the security architecture of the state.
” We take note of the unfortunate news playing out all over South East detailing the tales of woes of how fulani herders ravage & ransack farmlands, rape our women and slaughter defenceless men while these miscreants enjoy immunity from arrest and prosecution.
We are calling on the state house of assembly to initiate public oriented bills to that effect & criminalise fulani activities in the state” he said.
The state coordinator of the group Hon. Remigius Ozonwama who condemned the present security architecture in the state, called on Ndigbo at Large to get up from their slumber & laxity.
“We have lost so many lives in the hands of these misguided elements, therefore, we want the their activities in this state criminalised”.
On his part, Comrade Micheal Ijere who doubles as the Director, Contact & Mobilization of the group noted that COAL CITY YOUTHS INITIATIVE has all it takes to partner the state government in ensuring that there is absolute peace in all the local governments.
The group futher appealed to the state government to equip the yet to be recruited Forest Guards with sufisticated tracking apparatus and give them adequate training on information gathering, monitoring & surveillance.
They reiterated their resolve to working with the state government & other sister security agencies in the state to ensure a Peaceful, Prosperous and the new COAL CITY of their dream.
