ENUGU— Popular Enugu-based radio station, Solid 100.9FM has announced an end to its successful children’s programme dubbed ‘Solid100.9 Kiddies Literary and Creative Competition’ which lasted for three weeks, spanning from August 26 to September 13, 2019.
The programme which was powered alongside the Pens and Voices Book Fair, was concluded with an impact on the lives of participating children who engaged in activities such as reading, writing, drawing, spelling, singing and dancing at the Palms Polo Park Shopping Mall Enugu.
The Kiddies Literary and Creative Competition “was a very challenging one, but it was an experience that was worthwhile. It was a tripartite arrangement, a collaboration between Solid100.9fm, Palms Polo Park Shopping Mall and Pens & Voices. Children and their parents gathered in their numbers and registered to enjoy their time reading, writing, drawing, spelling, singing, dancing, playing games and more,” a staff of the radio station disclosed in a statement.
“Many participants learnt new things and got exposed to the Literary and Creative world. Judges were selected from various fields according to their area of interest and expertise. Critical thinking was emphasized in most of the Competitions and Enugu children proved that they had the capacity to face any challenge thrown at them. It was awesome,” the staff added.
Some of the judges who participated at the event included Coletta Ezeagba, G1 of the Drahit Empire, Clinton Umeh of Journalist101, Goodness Ama and Ebubechukwu who gave the children lessons on the principles of Art. There was great learning, networking, great inspiration, great bonding and amazing fun all through. It was 3 weeks of impact.
“On the Grand Finale and Gift Presentation Day of the competition 13th September 2019, many winners of the various categories of the competition were awarded with exciting gifts and prizes. The contributing sponsors and partners of the event gathered to watch the children display their different abilities. The dancing time was superb as two former Maltina Dance Hall winners Emeka Eze of E African Dance Center and Marigold (Madam Toku Toku) OAP with Solidfm, led the children through a scintillating dance performance. It was thrilling to watch,” the statement noted.
The Center Manager of the Palms Polo Park Shopping Mall Mrs. Ngozi Okechukwu, MD Pens and Voices Hon Uche Cyril Anioke who also organized the Book Fair and the General manager of Solid100.9fm Dr Obiageli Pat Ndu, all took turns to inspire the children on the importance of literacy and using their creative abilities.
They also showed the children that they could play the fishing game well. Dj Goodnoise and Dj Grandfingaz played the fishing game as well.
Ifeoma Ajumobi, one of the Solid FM OAPs popularly known as Ify Melody, the sparkling woman on radio who was the chief coordinator of the event alongside Lilian Ezinwa (aka Betapikin), ensured that the various competitions ran smoothly and that all the winners got befitting gifts.
The Solid 100.9fm crew and staff were well represented, they had an exceptional dance time with the parents who expressed so much gratitude for the opportunity to witness the unique event that instilled and groomed confidence in their children.
Others staff from the radio who graced the event included Ijele nwanyi, Ajibo, Jaydee, Chibuike, Chival, Aunty Chi, Wordshot, Yomi, Jane , Justice, Amara, Chidera, Princess, Doris, Jummai, Ella, Macswan, Blessing, Ken, Rita, John, Ogochukwu all SolidFM Djs (Goodnoise, Grand Fingaz, Kool Boi, Nov, Chascolee) and many others were there.
According to the statement “this is the first of its kind in Enugu and the experience is one that would last a life time, especially for the children.
