ENUGU— MOVEMENT of Biafrans In Nigeria (MOBIN) has reaffirmed its commitment in ensuring that Biafrans take over the political positions in the region towards its pursuit for the cause of freedom and development.
The civil rights political movement of Biafrans, in a statement on Wednesday, vowed to rise against political hawks and slaves who may attempt to subvert the will of the people as the 2021 gubernatorial election in Anambra state draws near.
According to the Director-General of MOBIN, Rita Eberechukwu Anigbogu, “as the umbrella political organization for all Biafrans, we will not fold our hands and allow oppressors of Biafrans to rule over us using our brothers and sisters as their stooges. We will resist them.”
She further insisted that MOBIN must be part of the political process in Anambra state, saying only credible leaders committed to the development and freedom of Biafrans would emerge as leaders in the state.
Mrs Anigbogu said: “MOBIN wishes to reiterate its commitment to political solution to the Biafra struggle for self-determination. We are fed up with the errand men and women who have continually done the bidding of their masters in the North thereby messing up with the politics of Biafra land. MOBIN also wishes to reaffirm its resolve to ensure that Biafrans take over political power with which to develop the Biafra Nation. We are indigenous people of Biafra but Nigerian citizens. We are here to impart political education to the Biafran masses.
“Since our first delve into politics in 2017, we have carefully studied the political maneuvers of the so-called political leaders of Biafraland. We watched as the Federal Government in conspiracy with some of those who ought to protect us went after Biafrans in the infamous Afaraukwu/Aba massacre, where many Biafran youths were slaughtered by the Nigerian Army.
“The neglect of our roads, the shut down of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, the indiscriminate mounting of Military check points in all of our roads, the free movement of the Fulani herders and their cows in all the Biafra territory, the raping, maiming and killing of our women and destruction of our farm crops by the Fulani infidels.
“We have listened to the many lies of politicians who are desperate to either remain in power and keep Biafrans in perpetual servitude, or take over power for the same purposes.
“We have watched with utter dismay the flagrant abuse of power in Biafraland by those who have sworn to protect us, the complete disrespect for human life and subsequent killing of our citizens.
“As the 2021 Anambra State guber polls get closer and gather momentum, we want to reassure all Biafrans that we must be part of that election. We are still committed to good governance of Biafrans in Biafraland. As the umbrella political organization for all Biafrans, we will not fold our hands and allow oppressors of Biafrans to rule over us using our brothers and sisters as their stooges. We will resist them.
“We are already waiting to see the crop of candidates that will be fielded by the political parties, Biafrans must take decisions based on party manifesto, candidate’s wealth of experience, competence, capabilities, antecedence, and disposition towards the good of Biafrans and Biafra land. Based on these very capital points, Biafrans in the coming Anambra election must take a position to save Anambra State from political hawks, and set the whole Biafraland on the path of freedom.
“Biafraland has remained the most neglected part of Nigeria by the Federal Government, which chose to see Biafrans as a conquered people. Consequently, Biafraland has remained undeveloped in infrastructures, and Biafrans, having lost interest in politics, have remained politically naive, despite being the most progressive black people on earth. MOBIN by this entry into politics, has the mandate to change this ugly and negative situation by instituting core Biafrans in all levels of political participation. To this end, we will strive to vote in Biafrans as Governors, Lawmakers and Administrators at all levels of leadership, who would be able to make laws that will give us the ideal Biafraland of our dreams even as we pursue freedom.”
MOBIN further appealed to those proposing the boycott of elections to support the political option for Biafra, saying that only then would their voices be heard and their decisions implemented.
“To our brothers and sisters who will always propose boycott of elections especially in Anambra State, we call on them all to join hands with us and take the political option for Biafra. Be aware that all decisions taken against Biafrans and Biafra in the past were taken by politicians and are all political decisions.
“Whether we like it or not, power/laws are always accessed in the parliament and not in the streets and the surest path to freedom today is the political path. Catalonia, Scotland and Kurdistan are clear and present examples of emerging republics that have operated healthy political rivalry with their oppressor nations and are coming on fine. Let us Biafrans take the same path and liberate our people, once and for all,” the statement concluded.
