The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Igbo National Council, (INC) on the 16th of November, 2019 held a meeting in Umuahia, Abia state to deliberate on various pressing issues affecting the Igbos and Nigeria at large.
The NWC expressed expressed displeasure at the level of insecurity in the country. They called on the National Assembly to consider the demand for state police in order to improve security in the nation.
On the Social media and hate speech bill, the committee condemned the bills in totality describing the bills as devilish and also a coup on the 1999 constitution. They called on Nigerians to unanimously rise up against the bill.
In view of the above, the INC made the following declarations.
1. That the Federal Government should commence the building of the proposed seaports at Onumini in Abia State, and make functional the Calabar Seaport, Onne Seaport in Rivers State, and Koko Seaport in Delta State respectively so as to decongest the already choked Tin Can Island and Apapa Wharf in Lagos State.
2. INC calls on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport Owerri and the Akanibiam International Airport Enugu in other to ease the suffering of the people of the Eastern region of Nigeria.
3. INC demand that the National Assembly should enact laws banning foreign medical trips by public and political office holders. We note that foreign medical trips by political office holders encourages capital flights, discourages and sabotages our Nigerians medical doctors practicing in the country.
4. Finally, INC calls on the Federal Government to speed up work on the second Niger Bridge which project is going lower than the sail speed.
