Kalu Nwokoro Idika has been appointed the national secretary of Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) – an indigenous social-political organization under the leadership of Igboayaka O. Igboayaka. OYC under the leadership of Igboayaka is the official and youth wing of Ohaneze Ndigbo which is the parent body.
Speaking after his appointment; Kalu noted that his appointment was by merit and that he would do everything possible to fire from all cylinders starting from the moment of his appointment.
“I will serve Igbo nation in this capacity with everything I can muster; if you look at the North, they have Arewa Youths and their influence is obvious. We in the South have had political problems; OYC is not a personal or private organization, nobody has the right to wake up and say he is this or that because the youth wing of Ohaneze Ndigbo has been independent right from inception. I identified with the official youth wing of Ohaneze Ndigbo because this is a time of business, I love the seven point agenda of this group, and it is worth fighting for,” he said.
The appointment came after the president of OYC complained about the inability of Kalu’s predecessor to show sufficient determination which Kalu is believed to have.
The president, Igboayaka had noted that his tenure would ensure economic emancipation of Igbo nation and all activities are geared towards achieving that goal, which Kalu Nwokoro’s appointment is an indication of serious business.
