The recent N100m intervention fund by Dr. Pat Asadu, representing Nsukka/Igboeze South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, for the construction of Lejja road linking Obimo has no doubt brought
succour to the good people of the communities.
The road project, which is in consolidation of the people-oriented administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and the Peoples Democratic Party at large, is coming at a time when the people of the affected communities were in dire
need of road infrastructure. The multiplier effect of the road network is immense as agrarian communities of Lejja and Obimo are already basking in the euphoria of having a good road network.
The N100m road project is however a tip of the iceberg among the recent physical constituency projects that are currently being undertaken by Dr. Pat Asadu. Recently, the high-ranking lawmaker also
attracted the 1.5 kilometre Ibagwa-Aka road in Igboeze South LGA as well as the Eha-Alumona road in Nsukka Local Government Area.
One significant thing about these road projects is that they have been
unattended to for several decades, thus making the inhabitants literary alienated from government and development. The absence of motorable road networks in these areas have also made life unbearable
to the inhabitants as their main source of living, which is farming, cannot thrive in the absence of good road networks.
Pat Asadu, as always, is never known for making promises without fulfilling them. He always equates his words with actions. The construction of the two road networks, under review, which is being handled in conjunction with the Federal Research Institute of Nigeria, is simultaneously under construction with the speed of hercules. By the contract terms will be completed in the first quarter of 2020. Another road project include the ongoing construction of 2.9km Umugbabe Ovoko-Ohagu- Uhunowerre Road .
One thing that is peculiar with these projects is their strategic positions and the fact that the lawmaker selected them based on the need assessment he embarked on to ascertain the real needs of some communities in his federal constituency. It is also to his credit that
nobody approached or wooed him to embark on the projects.
Dr. Asadu, in his characteristics, as a grass-roots politician, has overtime felt the pulse of individual members of his constituency by having direct contacts with them irrespective of the status.
It is said that uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. Over the years, Dr. Pat Asadu’s stewardships to his people and beyond can never be forgotten. He has affected all facets of human endeavours of his constituency, including health, education, empowerment, employment and
water sectors.
The climax of his political disposition is the cordial relationship existing between him and the Executive Governor of Enugu
State. Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, which has been very perfect. It is said that it is only on a fertile ground that seeds germinate with
vigour. Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s leadership style, which is devoid of rancour and bitterness, is the foundation for the realisations of the constituency projects of Dr. Pat Asadu. The governor remains the
master who any leader with a vision should borrow a leaf from.
One of the ways to sustain this tempo in Nsukka/Igboeze South Federal Constituency, which Pat Asadu represents at the National Assembly, is to reciprocate this Gov. Ugwuanyi-Pat Asadu synergy in ensuring the total victory of candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party in the
council elections coming up in the state on Saturday.
It is only by coming out en masse that these democratic dividends can be sustained.
